Take the First Step

I went to the gym at 9:30 pm last night. This was my first time back in probably 2 months!

I stopped due to the discomfort and pain I was experiencing in my arm. So, I made efforts to walk in my neighborhood. As my symptoms were slowly improving through Physical therapy, I knew I needed to get back to the gym.

But, I continued to make excuses until yesterday.

The plan was to go yesterday morning. Well, that didn’t happen as I kept hitting the snooze button on my phone.

So last night, I just went. I didn’t think about it. I just did it.

It’s my preference to workout in the morning, but maybe that’s changing. Who knows!

I just knew that I needed to get my butt in that gym. I had to conquer the excuses and just take the initial step.

And guess what? I felt so great after I finished. The endorphins were doing their thing.

And the gym was practically empty.

Most of the time our greatest battles are in our head. If we have the courage to take the first step by overcoming our fears or excuses we can usually manage what’s next.

Sometimes we just have to make that first step and not overthink everything.

What’s going on for you that you need to take that first step for?

When are you going to get out of your head?

When are you going to stop overthinking it and just do it?
